Youtube reactivated my channel again – why this is a lesson for me
Well this morning I received a message from Youtube, saying that my channel is online again. Well, that was certainly good news. This means that my constant work making travel videos didn’t turn out useless and I can just continue to develop my channel. After the “account has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy” shock this was nice to hear.
What to do?
In the same message Youtube gives you the possibility to oppose their decision and to tell them to recheck your channel. This is what I did: I wrote them in a RESPECTFUL MANNER telling them I have no knowledge about any infractions of the rules from my side. I respect both the community rules and the I stated how much I enjoy making Youtube Videos and that I would love to continue doing so. Actually, I was telling them that I am on their side and have no interest whatsoever in doing things that are not allowed on Youtube. Therefore, I pleaded to overlook their decision.
Seems that the strategy worked – since everything I have written is true I have to say. If you really don’t stick to the rules, then you won’t see your account again, I think. So before doing something illegal or even going into the grey areas, better think twice. I’m glad I can upload videos again.
More than that, I am able to connect with my subscribers again and participate in discussions with fellow Youtubers. Here you can watch one of my videos on Youtube again:
On the other hand this tells me that I will have to change my strategy for the future. It is outrageous that on one day Youtube essentially calls me a crook and a spammer and the next day, they act as if nothing has happened.
This is what the message said:
[Your] account has been terminated due to multiple or severe violations of YouTube’s policy against spam, deceptive practices, and misleading content or other Terms of Service violations
There was no warning (because there was nothing to warn me about, I’m a law abiding Youtuber). From one moment to another they closed my channel, removed my videos – they vaporized my digital self on Youtube. Why? I have no idea.
Well, now I received another message, claiming that they rechecked my Youtube account and my channel is perfectly fine.
While I am happy I can use my channel again, I don’t like what happened.
So from now on I won’t only rely on Youtube. All videos on this particular site, will also be uploaded on Vimeo and/or Dailymotion.
It will take some time till I have reached full redundancy with my old videos, but all new videos will be available on Youtube AND Vimeo/Dailymotion. Maybe even on all three of them.
The same video you see above is already online on Vimeo:
To be honest, I have to say that Vimeo has a very nice viewer experience. The site is very nice and the content there is of higher quality than on Youtube.
Anyway, I’m happy to announce that on Sunday my next video about an amazing train trip from Rome to Milan will be online. Whether Youtube lets me do that or not. Here on my blog you will ALWAYS find my content
Thank you for all your support. I greatly appreciate that and it is a huge motivation to create more and more exciting video content!
