KLM Cityhopper E190 in Business Class from Düsseldorf to Amsterdam

At the end of last year I had the opportunity to fly with the KLM Cityhopper E190 in Business Class. Actually this was part of a bigger flight via New York to the Caribbean, which I booked as a part of the KLM Dream Deals. It was quite a good deal, because that way I got to fly Business Class for a comparably low price.

As far as my flight in the KLM Cityhopper E190 in Business Class is concerned, well it was very short, around one hour. Here you can watch the video (on Youtube ;-), at the bottom of the page on Dailymotion):

The Hugo Junkers Lounge at DUS

Before the flight I stayed in the Hugo-Junkers-Lounge at Düsseldorf Airport. The lounge is operated by the airport and can be accessed both by the business class ticket and a Priority Pass membership. As I see it, the lounge is not very impressive and I actually found it a bit dark in there. The food selection was okay, but don’t expect too much.

The experience on board

Boarding was handled pretty well, there was separate boarding for business class and the staff did not allow eco passengers to go with the business class and status customers.

The seat on board is pretty comfortable and offers enough legroom for such a short flight. However, it seemed to me that other than the seat next to you remaining empty it was pretty much the same as in economy class.

Shortly after takeoff the staff brought a snack. It was packed in a stylish paper bag and consisted of a sandwich, some cookies and a bottle of water. I wasn’t offered anything else during the flight. The quality was okay, but I have to say that Swiss did a better job on their CS100.

Well, pretty soon we started the descent into Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. One thing I have to mention is that there was no separate transfer for business class passengers to the terminal. I think they can do that better, especially since Schiphol is KLM’s homebase.

Conclusion

Overall my travel experience in the KLM Cityhopper E190 in Business Class was neither perfect not bad. While it was not special, KLM did what can be expected and I was happy with that!
