Frecciarossa 1000 in Executive Class – Europe’s Best Train?
So back in December 2017 I had the opportunity to test the Trenitalia Frecciarossa 1000 in Executive Class. I traveled from Rome Termini to Milano Centrale. Here I will write down my thoughts. I created a video on this fantastic experience, that you can watch on Youtube:
Before that journey, I booked my tickets for the Frecciarossa 1000 in Executive Class on the website of Trenitalia, which is the Italian state company running those high speed trains. This worked out well and as I chose the Super Economy rate, I got a pretty reasonable price. But don’t forget, the cheapest fare for Executive Class comes with the fact you can’t change your ticket afterwards and you have to take the train you booked.
For me that wasn’t much of a problem, as I arrived on time. The Frecciarossa 100 Executive Class ticket gives you access to the Frecciaclub lounge at the railway station. In my case this was at Rome Termini station. You will find some signs at the station telling you the way to it, but you can always ask one of the employees at the station who will help you. To enter the lounge you have to enter some kind of number on the ticket on a keypad. Somehow it didn’t work for me, but that was not much of a problem, as a lady who was entering the lounge at the same time, just opened the door with her access card.
The Frecciaclub lounge
The lounge itself is very clean, it has lavatories, a few tablet computers at your disposal and many seats and tables. However, in terms of food it is not comparable with an airline lounge. The food selection is very limited, in fact there are only some very little snacks. But there is enough to drink, a coffee machine and a fridge with different drinks are available.
The cabin of the Frecciarossa 1000 in Executive Class
The train itself is a really nice piece of Italian and Canadian engineering. It just looks the way it is called – like a “Red Arrow”. The cabin is probably the best I have seen so far on a high speed train. Very comfortable seats, which recline to a certain angle, a comfortable footrest, Internet access (free, but requires registration). It is in great shape and filled with luxury. Food and drinks were included in the price.
It offers you everything what you would expect from a First Class experience. You can even be very productive while traveling: There is a conference room in the train that you can book in advance. It features a big desk for several people as well as a TV screen where you could show a presentation.
I could go on and on writing about this marvellous train travel experience, but I suggest you watch the video I made. Or just book your trip in the Frecciarossa 1000 in Executive Class.
I think I can summarize my experience in the Frecciarossa 1000 Executive Class with one word: superb. The Frecciarossa 1000 Executive Class offers a level luxury on a high-speed train that in my view is unmatched at least in Europe.
